The Golden Egg

Ian and Bikram were walking down the trail when suddenly the younger cried out, “Sir, Look!” Looking rather insignificant, a folded leaf lay on the ground. With the sparkling eyes of a curious young boy Bikram looked up and said, “Sir, Sir, there’s gold inside!” The green package was folded intricately, rolled and tucked neatly in a peculiar way. Ian thought, “What? Gold? No. Well there must be something precious inside if someone went to all the trouble to pack it up and leave it in the trail for someone to find.”
The pair hurried back to Bikram’s house to open the treasure. Excited fingers pulled little tabs and unrolled the leaf. At first it seemed empty. Ian was disappointed, until he spotted a minuscule golden dot laying in the middle of the organic container. An egg, an insect’s egg, a tiny speck hidden in the midst of a large protective structure. A miracle, all of the potential of life in miniature and enclosed in an fragile transient creation.
